We strive to make mental health care accessible and convenient for all Australians, particularly those in rural and remote areas. Our telehealth psychiatry services are designed to provide high-quality care through a secure online platform. To ensure you receive the best possible service, it’s essential to understand the eligibility criteria for our telepsychiatry services.
Telehealth Service
Please note that JAAS Psych offers exclusive outpatient services and does not provide assessments for inpatients. This means our services are tailored to individuals seeking mental health support from their homes or other non-hospital settings.
Bulk-Billing for Rural and Remote Areas
For patients in rural and remote areas, our psychiatrists provide bulk-billing for all initial assessments, with the exception of ADHD and ASD, which are privately billed. This approach ensures that those facing geographic challenges can access essential psychiatric care without financial strain, while specialized assessments for ADHD and ASD remain privately billed.
ADHD Assessments
Regardless of your location, ADHD assessments at JAAS Psych are billed privately. This specialised service requires detailed and comprehensive evaluations to ensure accurate diagnosis and effective treatment plans.
Privately Billed Appointments for Metro Areas
For those living in metropolitan areas, appointments are privately billed with the possibility of Medicare reimbursements. This billing structure ensures that we can continue to provide high-quality psychiatric care to those in urban settings, while also making it as affordable as possible through Medicare rebates.
Remote & Rural Telepsychiatry Eligibility
Eligible patients must be located in Modified Monash (MM) areas classified MM 2 to MM 7. These areas typically encompass regions where access to medical care is more challenging. The Australian Government’s Health Workforce Locator interactive map can help determine your eligibility. You can check your MM classification through the Health Workforce Locator.
